A practical suggestion:

Visible tattoos and certain facial piercings, can hurt you in many workplaces, or keep you from getting the good job you want. So if you're thinking about getting them, consider keeping it in a place most people won't notice - maybe around your ankle, the date intertwined with a leaf vine with roses.

I wish you the best !!

No offense, but I don't believe that you're still suffering any grief where your mother's death is concerned. My cousin was four when her mother died, and she doesn't remember anything about her mother - let alone grieving over her.

Something is missing in your life all right, but getting a tattoo of your mother's death date is not going to help.

I wouldn't get her death date, personally. If you do get one, get it somewhere that you can hide, like your back, hip, shoulder, ankle, etc. I think a nice portrait of her would be better than the date she died.

I think thats a good idea for your mom but I would get like a small pic or her on your ankle wit her birth-death dates it would look nice.
