Should i do this ?

um im 14 years old and I want to be in a band when I finish high school mabey sooner thats if I get better at the guitar by then =P.
but every body expects me to be something better like collage =/ and I realy want to go with what I like but I don't...

know if I should
I love music and it loves me =P
or I can waist my time to get my perfect job
so yea help me
and I probaly think the band will make me happier than collage because I've been haveing thoughts of ... suicide or running away because like my life sux right now with my family right now =/

Always keep your music close to you -- it will help you survive those terribly mundane parts of life you have to go through.

But it's still early and you don't have to make major decisions just yet and sometimes, when you decide to mix art/music with making a living, one or both of them suffer. Remember that even if you decide to work in a bar, or in a grocery store, you can still have your music. As for college, sure, slide it in somewhere. In the next 2 to 3 years you will have a clearer idea of what you want to do.

yes you should join a band. although college is a good idea too. have you heard of a fall back? let's say the band you join doesn't take off right away, you need something to support yourself. do well in school so you can have this job. you should follow your dreams. something to live for would probably be helpful right now (you sound depressed) so guitar is great. as for the thoughts of suicide, umm.. talk to a councellor. I wish you best of luck on this dream (one day reality). I'm giving you advice today, oneday I'll be begging for your autograph.

Well what you could do is find something else you really like and make that your career and just have music as a hobby. You can be a lawyer and be in a band; it's not prohibited.
Or you could be a backup guitarist for other artists, give guitar lessons, or write music for people if you like playing guitar that much.

You sound INCREDIBLY lame with how your going on about running away and killing yourself just because your a preteen with parents.. get a grip...second of all, 99% of bands formed NEVER get close to famous, you can be in a band and college, if the band never works you got a job, if it does, you can leave college and go with the band. and life usually does suck I'm not going to lie, but your lucky to even have parents and not have AIDS in africa with no parents, raising your younger siblings, at the age of like 6, litterally...

If you love music you should go ahead and do it no matter what anyone else says but go to college in case this doesn't work out and do really good in school and after you finish all of the school stuff try and make time each day to practice and on weekends get your band together and practice...I don't want to seem lame but school comes first cause this may or may not work!! I love music too its everything to me but make time for everything and as far as other things go I don't think you should be sharing that kind of info like running away and stuff on here cause people might think you are doing it just for attention or sumthin...you don't know most of us we just give advice to help so yeah try not to open up too much mad lol and everyone has problems when they are teens I am a teen and are going through hard things too but I am not going to tell anyone on here!!

In the end I say...make time for everything, go to college, take it easy, and relax lol
