Maybe with girls 4 and under it should be okay and with girls 5 and older they should be able to go into the ladies room by themselves with their dad standing outside the ladies room door.
As to what the girl might see in the men's room, so what. There is nothing wrong with her knowing that there is a difference between boys and girls. She may see but not even notice. If she asks questions then dad can answer them after they leave the rest room.
Are we afraid to let little girls know that their is a difference between boys and girls?
Well, they can't very well allow a young child to go into the ladies room alone, and the father can't go in there, so the only obvious choice is the men's room.
Of course there should be an age limit, but it also depends on the maturity of the child and what kind of area they are in (in some areas, kidnappings are more rampant than others).
The father, however, should at the very least take the initiative to cover the child's eyes while walking her to a stall...it's simple common courtesy.
depends... what if its a single dad with a little girls under 4? how is she supposed to potty all by herself? lol. BUT if HE'S going potty, he should not bring her in, the only reason she should go in is if she needs to potty in a stall. if he needs to potty, he can tell her to wait outside the door like a good girl. I don't know??? lol
If it's a single father and she or he has to use the bathroom then it's fine to take her in. However he should be making sure that she doesn't look at every guy in there.
A single father knows not to leave his daughter outside of the bathroom when he goes in because that's like an advertisement for every pervert to take her.
And just because women's rooms have stalls doesn't mean that the boys aren't getting an early education. I've had plenty of little boys crawling under the stalls and appearing at my feet...it's amazing that their mother's don't even yell at them.
Maybe I should have explained a little better.I have no problem with girls 1-4 years old coming in to mens room.My problem is fathers who bring girls as old as 6-7 years old in.I think these are the curiosity years. Some dads are discrete and have them cover their eyes as they wisk them to a stall but some I think could use some sense.I was in a crowded mens room at a sporting event all the urinals were taken as I was peeing a man brought in a girl around 6 her dad was uncircimised I was she looked at him then me and askeddaddy why is yours different than his or other rather innocent but very embarassing ???one other time I was using urinal and dad was waiting by stall I didn't know if it was a boy or girl in there he just kept saying hurry we have to get back on the road when the stall door opened a girl came out at least 7yrs old and first place her eyes went were at me and she started to giggle.I am sorry but I feel uncomortable when a girl over 4-5 comes in the mens room.I think a sign should be posted like at the YMCA on mens lockeroom door stating no girls under the age of 5 are allowed same should be meant for bathrooms too.Several new resturants and stores have opened in my area and they all come with stalls in the mens room even for urinals so that would ease the situation.Hey I am liberal in my views I heard many men yell at a father when they brought their daughter in to GET OUT!!! in no certain terms.Colethky how do you handle it when a boy looks under your stall?? I think if a girl is over 5 she should use the womans room while dad waits by the door if a reasonable time elapes then he should open door and ask if she is allright if no reply womans room or not he should yell dad coming in and check on her...
