No.

Children don't have the maturity or the mental capacity to make a well-informed decision that will ultimately affect the entire national population.

It depends on what you mean by a child, a child could be 10 or younger or 16 or younger . . . .

Either way I don't think children should be allowed to vote. If you could vote who would you vote for?? Plus I don't think that it would be the child's choice - they'd vote for who their parent said to vote for. And what if children all voted for one party because the party offered free sweets in schools or something - it could end in the BNP running England!!! Half of England would be deported . . . . Not Good!!

xD

no, but I do think that at the age of 16, teenagers are capable of making an informed decision on which party to vote for. So I'd say lower the voting age (I mean if you're old enough to be allowed to have sex, you're surely old enough to be allowed to vote)

I think 16 should be the voting age not 18 but having children (like 10,11 year olds) voting would be quite weird. Not only would the parties make up absurd promises so the children would naively vote but children are also incapable of weighing up pros and cons of a mature subject. Leave voting to elder people I say.

I don't think anyone who isn't in the position to run their own life should vote...meaning at 18, even if they aren't living on their own, they could be.

You can have sex at 12...body mature is not all intellectually mature.

That I agree with, but the government (if I am correct) says that 16 is the age of consent and I feel that if you are legally able to make decisions about your reproductive system, you should be able to vote...

you can also carry a gun, fight in a war (well assuming you're not gay, then they dont want you around), but you're not allowed to drink... they have arbitrary ages for different things... I dont even think most 18 year olds are mature enough to vote...

I wouldnt say children but I think maybe like 16 year olds should, by that time most people can make up their own minds and are just as intelligent as an 18 yr old.

I think sixteen is a little to young. 16 year olds are still at an age where the candiates would still make absurd promises and they would believe them. I think that 18 is the perfect age. It is when your leagally considered an adult.

no children do not fully understand how the government works and politics to make a good decision on the president. plus they probably arent exactly in the know when it comes to war, economy, and etc etc. kinda hard to vote for a leader when you dont know any of thtat stuff

Answered by mario2010 on Nov 13, 2009, 01:56PM

Yes because some children should be able to pick who they want as government.Like I say to my friends children should have the right to vote like the government gave the women the right to vote.
