Help! I just got bit by something! Here's the story. My sister and I were outside playing in the backyard with the hose and I went to turn the water off. of course, I wasn't wearing shoes so when I had almost reached the flaucet something either stabed or bit my foot. I cried out in pain and while yelling at my sister to get my dad, washed off my foot with the hose. my dad comes out, tells me to come inside, and uses a rattlesnake bite posion remover to try and get whatever is was's posion out. he put afterbite on it, and it stoped hurting. there is no sign of anything on my foot. we live in texas and it could have been a scorpion, but I didn't see whatever it was. I need help, am I in danger? what could the thing have been? this happened about twenty minutes ago. what are the signs that something bad might be happening?
help!

You would recognize scorpion sting symptoms: immediate pain or burning, very little swelling, sensitivity to touch, and a numbness/tingling sensation.

Symptoms of a more serious scorpion sting causing a systemic allergic reaction may include:

severe pain at the site of the bite
itching of the nose, throat, and mouth
wheezing or trouble breathing
muscle spasms
abdominal pain or cramps
dizziness
seizures
fever and chills
general weakness
nausea and vomiting
sleepiness
increased saliva.

I happen to be almost positive it is a scorpion, unless you just stepped on a needle or some type of splintery thing. I catch scorpions for a living (granted I am only 15 years old) But I do know a lot about them and they hurt really bad and then the pain goes away (usually) and turns into numbness. There is no physical sign that you have been stung because scorpions leave no swelling or redness.
