Say what?!

I think my dad was being nosey and looking through some of my stuff I have saved on microsoft word. I looked under the history and it said some of my stuff had last been modified on March 1. I didn't look at those certain files that day either... BUT my...

dad was on microsoft that day. Was HE looking through MY PERSONAL stuff?! I'm actually kind of mad about this... I mean it's nothing bad that's saved there, but still... is it really his business? Why would he want to mess around in my stuff? Doesn't he trust me? It's not like I have porn saved there or something geez! It annoys me that he'd all of a sudden get nosey like that and start looking through MY stuff! What should I do about this? And is there any way I could protect my files so mr nosey doesn't snoop around in them again *if he did*?

Well, if I put them in a different folder, I'm afraid he'd try to say I was doing something I was supposed to which is why I moved them which is completely untrue! I just don't want nosey people rooting through MY stuff! And I don't know about asking him about it. He'd probably get mad at me. I can't even believe he did that. He's NEVER did that before, and now all of a sudden he feels the need to be nosey and look through all my stuff?! Great... just what I need, a nosey dad.

If you use Microsoft Word and save your personal files, what you should do is save them onto a flash drive. He cant access your file unless you connect a flash drive and then open your files... they dont cost much either. You can get a flash drive for like 20 dollars.

I wish I could, but one, I don't have my own money *never have actually*, and 2... then he'd just say something like oh she's probably doing something she's not supposed to which is why she's hiding her stuff. That's not true at all. I just want privacy! Is that so much to ask geez
He wouldn't like it if I went snooping through HIS stuff...
This really does annoy me!

It certainly does sound like he was doing some snooping. I'd be mad about this too. If you don't have anything bad saved... why would he feel the need to be nosey and snoop through your stuff? I'd try to get a floopy disc and save ALL your files on that, THEN get rid of them on microsoft. Keep the disc in your room or something. As long as they're saved on that disc, you'll always have them PROTECTED from the nosey people in your house-hold.

Ask your Dad why - keep in mind, you're a minor and he is responsible for you, looking after your best interests - he cares - many, many, don't.

Well, I guess parents have to check up on their kids every once in awhile even if they have good kids. It would be better than a parent who doesn't care. Maybe he was even curious to know about the kinds of things you like, just to seem like a parent who's more 'in touch' with their kids' lives. Yes, parents make mistakes too, but most of the time it's because they care about you happy

Anyway, since you can't hide your files in a flash drive or make a password Windows profile if you're on XP... I suppose the next best thing you can do is to save your files onto your email account. Upload them as attachments and then save them as Drafts.

There are also heaps of free online storage services that you can check out, like Google Documents (which you will already have if you are registered to Gmail), Box.net, or Dropboks.com.

Thanks mysterywolf, I might have to look into some of that online storage things, especially since they're free.
He might of just been curious to know what I was into these days since me and him actually aren't OVERLY close *I'm closer to my mom*... but still, why didn't he just ask ME instead of rooting through my PERSONAL things?!
