Satanism and evolution, and you??

my own BONSAI tree!!! :D! Asked by athleta4life 2 months ago, 10 answers.

Who here thinks that satanism is basically the mindset of a believer of evolution???

I have listend to the first family of satanism (the family of the founder of satanism),
And it seems like its basically that.

Human biengs acting selfishly to survive,...

like animals. Indulging in your own natural sexual, power, greedful desires, like animals would.

It sounds like its based on survival of the fittest.
But thats my own opinion.

Whats yours?

There might be similarities yes, however they differ in one crucial respect. Satanism is man made nonsense, like all religion. Evolution is fact, there's no serious scientific dispute, even the immoral and backwards Catholic church has acknowledged it. Also natural selection is a bit more complicated than people acting on greed and their selfish desires. For example 'reciprocal altruism', the idea that there's an evolutionary benefit to being good; if you do good by someone, they will return the favour, thus both of you benefit. Secondly, based on the way people behave and think in society, I don't think we're that evolved or superior to animals, one thing we can say for sure though, is that we're conscious, therefore we're aware of our actions, and must behave responsibly. We're aware of the suffering and harm we can inflict on others, and as a non believer myself I have no desire to behave in that way towards other people. Despite the bizarre hang ups religious people have about sex, it illustrates my point. There's no harm in engaging in your sexual desires, as long as you do no harm to anyone else or society as a whole.

I have no idea about satanism, but I would argue about your simplification of evolution and survival of the fittest. Humans are social animals, and will often sacrifice themselves for others. This is to ensure maximum survival of the species. If people were just out for themselves, then people wouldnt risk their lives for each other, they wouldnt sacrifice themselves for others.

Evolution is a scientific theory, not a philosophy. Just because it's how nature works doesn't mean it's how we have to behave (or how we should behave) any more than newton's theory of gravity implies we should drop apples on people.

Evolution has nothing to do with Satanism, nor does Satanism result from failure to deny evolution.

Satanists are an even smaller minority than atheists, yet a large majority of even religious people accept evolution.

Satanism is overly self-absorbed, which is just as unnatural as the self-denial pushed by so many religions. We are self interested social animals. That's what has resulted from evolution.

yes anton laveys satanism.

and im not saying that evolution has anything to do with Satanism. it just seems as though the theory of evolution and satanism have so many similarities that it seems as though they go perfect together (in my opinion).

any satanist might agree with evolution since it explains humans behavior and how its acceptable. vise versa.

As I already pointed out, Evolution is a scientific theory, not a philosophy. Evolution does not explain how any behaviour is acceptable or otherwise - those are moral judgements, and it's up to us to decide what is acceptable and what isn't.
