If he didn't kill his wife he would have had an alibi and wanted to catch his wifes killer.
And if he didn't why did he flee the country? Innocent people don't run.

We won't know. He hanged himself. Which, by the by, a free man wouldn't do.

I beleive he killed her; if he didn't, why would he have run away from police?
