Rules of this website?

Messed up me. Asked by emeruby about 1 month ago, 4 answers.

Just wondering... But is this website going to ever update its rules? The reason I ask is because I look here ( Having been a member for a fair amount of time... I only log on 1-2 times a week and answer a question here and there if I think I can truly...

help.) And over my time there are many Illegal questions being asked...

My point being, Shouldn't this website have some type of policy against illegal material here? I mean. Just about five minutes ago someone went to A illegal rave, Took a bunch of illegal drugs and smoked illegal things and wants help? In my opinion her question should be deleted due to the fact that it is illegal number one. And number two if you are stupid enough to do something illegal face the consequences.

Another point being, People are asking how to beat drug tests, Beat breathalizer tests etc. Things to beat the police.. Not only is this illegal but we are technically aiding criminals to avoid police like this...

I want to hear your points and opinions on this. I would be especially happy if the staff and mods of fun advice would join in on this also... Post whether or not you agree with me and please give a reason why... Lets see your side of the story also.

So...clearly, you should have read these:
http://www.funadvice.com/doc/terms

when you signed up. Fun fact: I'm one of the owners (the President of the company, for what it's worth)...and yes, I spend at least a few hours a day here, reviewing questions, deleting stuff, etc. We remove ~15% of questions, per day, and the same percentage of answers and members...surprise? We don't publish it because it's pointless.

If you see something that breaks the rules that we *didn't* notice, then hit report abuse and somebody will get it... we have a small team, compared to all the start ups like ours that raise millions of dollars to run their business, we're a very small team. We rely heavily on advisors (volunteers) as well as members to catch things that our small team misses.

Could we do better? Absolutely...but, so could Google, Yahoo, Youtube, a social site, etc. Name a single web based business that is perfect...stumped, right? happy

If you have any solid suggestions on *what* we can change to improve, send me a fun mail, or use the contact form. About 60% or more of improvements are made as a result of feedback...while we don't always move as fast as we'd like to, we do move as fast as we can to make the site better.

I agree with you. Enforcing such rules however, would require more figures of authority on the site. And with the amount of illegal material on here seeming to increase month to month (no evidence to back this up other than personal observation) it would take a huge effort to remove and eventually surpress the amount of illegal content on here.

However, I do think it should be ok if someone says I smoked/did (drug) and was now wondering, what could happen to me now that I used (said drug). THAT's alright, in my opinion, because they wouldn't be asking how to pass a drug test.

perhaps a funadvice police force of some sort?

There is a monitor, certain words are not supposed to be posted, and we delete inappropriate pictures. We do police this place, but remember that there's only 3 admins working on the policing stuff and a bunch of volunteer advisors. We do get a lot of stuff you dont see. The rest is stuff that slips through the cracks...
