Role models who went from rags to riches?

Many people have role models, but I can't seem to find mine. I want someone who is famous and grew up from rags to riches. You know didn't have much growing up but worked really really really hard to make it in the real world. Also I would like it if he/she is kind and considerate. I'm writing a school paper and it would really help if you could tell me of people who you think is a good (famous) role model.
