What do Christians and other religions REALLY think of atheists?

It makes me sad that you continue to frame our religious (or irreligious) views this way. It's like you think we sit down and say, "I can either choose to follow God and be righteous and go to heaven, or I can reject God, and lead a life of rebellion against him. I'll go with option B."

Have you learned nothing from talking with atheists on this board about why we think the way we do?

im christian and a lot of my friends are athiest or just dont care. and I accept them for who they are. im not going to neglect them. my boyfriend isnt christian and I accept him for that. but I always encourage them to think about it more because evolution is just fu*kin retarded and whoever made it up should be smacked =)

I think that people should stop and take the time
to think about there religion and if they dont have\on they should because im a proud Christian and when I see atheists its makes me sad as well

I'm actually a spirualist, which is a great religion in my opinion, no burning in hell, just learning! anyway...thats my choice.

why is it the above comments, assume that their life is so much happier, simply because they believe in something.

believing in yourself, your actions and the effects on others should be the only truth. relgion is dangerous, as is this subject!

im chrisitan, I feel bad for those who reject him but I wont turn them away, I just pray for them...I dont think thet are bad or anythin I just think they need a new direction

Most atheists think about religion far more than religious people who go to church everyday. Since most atheists (atleast on this site) grew up in households where their parents/guardians were religious, they obviously thought about it and decided against it... most religious people on the other hand simply follow their parent's beliefs... dont pressume people dont think about something simply because they choose not to agree with you...

Getting back to your question, Atheists are the despised and distrusted group in America. Every poll I've ever seen confirms this.

I am a Christian, and I don't despise anyone. I feel that as long as there is breath in ones body, the chance still exists to come into faith.

As filletofspam mentioned, atheists - who percentagwise are the least likely to be in prison than any other significant group, are also the least trusted.

An out-of-the-closet atheist has a zero chance of being elected to the Presidency.

They think they're rather odd because they don't look at life the same way
If you think about it, if you subscribe to a single religious belief, you subject all your actions, choices and thoughts toward it
so anyone more free thinking and not so tied down to one establishment is considered a bit different
and I think everyone knows how people who are different are treated
like CRAP
its human nature, looking at the ones who don't think the same results in instant discrimination
I'm an athiest but I live in a rather large religious community
my best friend is a Christian
I think if one wants to be religious, thats a lovely choice
but sticking their lifestyle in anothers face is just plain rude

I think deep, down inside every human is the fundamental idea of God. It is a part of our make-up. You know that hole in your guts? That is our yearning for God. Some kids coined it " that hole in your guts when they're standing on the street corner, and the winds blowin through". That is the king size hurt.

It is a God shaped hole, and we try to fill it with booze (my favorite), women (a close second), money, etc. The problem is; its a God shaped hole!

It is not normal to walk alone. It is not normal to be away from the fathers house.
It is normal for us to share our God, ourselves, as we walk down that high road of life, one with another in love. I do not judge atheists. My very own personal reality, is that we are all Gods kids. If one of is, than all of us are, and if one of us isnt, then none of us are. You are one of Gods kids. That is if you like it or not, believe it or not, or want it or not.

I had god damn johovas witnesses knock on my door on christmas day morning - at about 9 am - how god damn dare they! seriously, normally I am very polite and like 'no thanks' this time I was like "are you kidding me? it's christmas day morning and you have just made me get up, tell my kids to stop unwrapping their gifts becuase you know you're gunna cathc people in"

this is the perfect example of people enforcing their beliefs on others...with no regard for them either...

agree with foxxy and sooitca, I believe in god...yet I can't be considered a christian...nor do I belong in any religion...and people believe I am wrong...but thinking and feeling the way I do right now...has made me happier than ever..my question to you is do you not see god the same ways as others?? or do you just not believe in anything??...either way..there is this satisfaction you get by helping one antoher in the way...when you get, you might believe in this energy I call God...PLUR

I don't think Good or bad for the Atheist as a group I just feel sorry for them.

Doesn't affect me either way. Can't change the way a person thinks, I'll offer information if provoked, but beyond that, I let people live their lives the way they choose.

I think a lot of people are spiritually inhibited by religion.

I think free-thinkers are uninhibited in so many aspects and levels.

capt. I dont see where she said anything bad towards anyone . LOL why do you try to turn what people say and make them think its bad ???

My prayers are with you and hope that one day someone would help you in your misery . I had chances and times that I could of blamed God . Thinking he hated me and the hard times I went through just give up .
But once I got my life right and started studying more my life has been a lot better and yes I have become closer to God . My own free will . No one forced it on me and No one pushed it on me . See you all speak as if most push it on you and your right some try too , but that is not the way a True Christain is . Christains pray for one another as we as those who are not saved . If someone { one of you asked me a question in person } I would sit with you and talk to you yes but only if you wanted to talk with me about it . I dont hate anyone I dont care if you believe or not . Just pray for those who seem to need it . Just as last night all these people on here I prayed for the so many of the confussed and the non believers that they get their answers and that they find some peace in their hearts and lives . It is sad that you have so many troubles in your lives and no peace . I am just glad I finally do and someone I can go to talk too. Hope you find the same peace and love I have . my prayers are still with all of you .
