Religion?

My question here is to ask about religion, honestly, I do not believe in religion itself, I see it as a large brainwashing scheme. Now a lot of my family is religious, thanking god all that stuff.

Anyways, the way I see it, something happened be it Science, be it "Miracle", Religion itself to me is a sign of weakness, 1, you follow what people say mindlessly, what if the bible where some great fiction, you would feel pretty dumb. 2, Most people will go out of their way trying not to sin, but the sheer fact that you are following a religion is a sin in itself (how does it feel to be judged?). 3, A lot of people I ask will tell me "Well I would rather play it safe by acting religious" now to me that's just sad, "THE" sign of the weak (as stated above) this world was built, created, spawned, whatever for either a play-toy (God was bored) or on accident (Scientology, lol).

I do not consider myself atheist (its actually a religion) but I do not have faith in anything I cannot see, I have faith in myself, my friends, the people in the moving world around me.

Please don't come here spamming your useless trash about "YOUR GOING TO HELL!" well so be it, at least I know I'm a sinner if that's true. But, I have done the research and from what I can tell as I said in the start of this rant, religion has been defiled by men.

The best way to put this in my opinion:
"Judge me, *** you, stop playing god, your forked tongue prophecies carelessly, caressing the wounds of the weak, people like you should be crucified,
Then maybe just maybe you would have an idea of what you are talking about. Raise up your heads, unclasp your hands, your weakness makes me tremble, true strength comes from within, and we were given this life to live, not exist under standards,
Set by some bullsh*t rule book. What prayers of yours, were ever answered, by degrading others, spare me your biblical back peddling nonsense, for the people that you've hurt, and the being you dishonor,
your fall from grace, will finally justify my means."

comments/thoughts?

A couple of months ago I was involved in a very interesting debate with someone on this forum. The ideas were traded back and forth in a respectful, though provoking manner. When people from either side can do nothing but name call, slam, bash, whatever, it shows a complete and utter disregard for the individual no matter what their particular stance is on a given question. If you cannot use proper, well thought out answers to a given question, without the nominal amounts of rhetoric, then keep your comments to yourself. I believe that most people use this forum to get some direction for their lives by making the choices THEMSELVES from the information given in the answers. Leave the childish behavior out of it.

its okay for other people to beleive in religion
me personally, I think its all complete bullsh*t!
but some poeple need someone to turn to, someone to blame, and someone to answer all there unanswered questions.
nothing religiouse is logical, has ever been proved right, and never will be
back in the day people would beleive anything,
when there was no freedom of speach people beleived anything they were told or heard about
and that is how religion started.
I would say the true religiouse people, are more leading cults than religion
especially scientology
and people who constantly rely on something higher than them are weak in my opinion
and blinded by there faith
they dont accept anything else that doesnt relate to there religion
but at the end of the day
I dont belive in anything and im happy
and if there happy beleiveing in something and are happy I dont really care
ill never beleive in anything different to what I do, and I dont mind people beleiving in a "god"
as long as there not forcing is down other peoples throughts.
if they keep it to themselves, im fine with it.
but I was wondering what kind of answers you were expecting?
its obviouse that ther'll be religiouse people trying to justify your beleifs
and ther'll also be people who agree with you

Just, today some preacher stopped me in the street and tried to give me a bible. Kinda just snapped.

one guy came up to me and my friend and said "I've got good news!"
and then started going on about god
mainly because of the way we were dressed
which I think is just very simple-minded
but you learn to ignore everyone like that
and just laugh at them

welll I agree with you too...but you have got to admit that some people have done good deeds when apart of a religion. in a way it is good to have a faith so you shouldnt diss religion. I mean christmas teaches people to give and take and teach people about loving and caring/ but I do think religion should lay off the bible stories and focus more on the lessons to be learnt.

well let me share a story about these guys coming to my country...I call em the jesus crew... they are americans who want to spread christianity around, they stop people in the roads make fake "gatherings" and such. one interesting one was last summer me and a few friends where in a park and some kids came up to us passing some leaflets about a dance they were p-erforming, they said it was free and everyone would have fun, 4 people went and when they returned they told me the first thing those kids did was hold up a bible to all attending and started to say god is great believe in jesus etc.
pretty annoying if you ask me...they didnt even do no dance!
another such encounter was me messing with one of these people asking them why theyre religion was bnetter and why I should join, then I talked about atheism and god angels and I won that argument because those guys had no idea what the hell they should say...

im an atheist in every aspect but I've about the bible and the kuhran just for interest,

And I do believe in God, or some sort of reason for all of us. I just don't like Religion in general.

Ok first of all there are a lot of definitions of religion but "anything that has to do with a group of people involving a higher being (God) is a religion, even if they don't actually believe in it" isnt one of them... religions involve a set of beliefs and practices (all religions have this in common) and atheism simply does not meet this criteria

secondly, according to your own criteria of religion "anything that has to do with a group of people involving a higher being (God) is a religion", you believe in God, which means you have a religion... you cant have it both ways...

And amblessed thinks this is a loving god? A god who if he wanted to, could reveal himself, but chooses not to. A god who if you doubt his existence, since there is zero proof of it, will cause you to spend eternity in hell.

Atheism doesn't involve a group of people involving a higher being. Atheism is not an organization. Think of it as "a-theism", meaning, "without belief in gods", rather than as "athe-ism", meaning "followers of the principles of athe" ... whatever "athe" is.

It's simply a disbelief in gods. If you don't believe in gods, you're an atheist too, whether you like to call yourself that or not.

Sorry to butt in. After this post I will not be reading any responses. I just want to give my two cents worth.

I am a born again Christian. I believe in God. I believe that he came to save rather than condemn.

I do not have a religion however, I have a relationship. I feel that the problem here is that people, all people, have a deep seated need to search for answers, to find the truth. You have found your truth, and I have found mine.

I believe that you need Jesus, and hey, if you ask me about Him, I'll tell you. But you need to understand that Christians believe they are helping people when they tell others about Jesus. The Bible tells us that everyone is a sinner and that all fall short of the Glory of God. By telling you about Jesus, we are trying to ensure that others will not be seperated from Him.

If this angers you, that's okay. You are Human. You have a right to feelings and opinions of your own. God did create free will after all.

I personally believe we are right and athiests are wrong. MY PERSONAL BELIEF and therefore it should not reflect on all Christians. You believe that we are wrong and you are right.

As amblessed said, it's definitly a safer bet to believe than not to believe, but I implore you not to believe to save your skin, but to believe to form a bond with Him. He is a fullfilling, Loving, Ever Present God who cares enough for us that He sent His Son do die for us.

I am not trying to step on anyone's toes here. What my main point is, is that if you say that all Christians Judge based upon a few unpleasant experiences, you are judging too, and therefore have no right to point fingers. Also, it is unfair to expect someone who believes he/she is saving you from a fate far worse than death to not speak. They speak out of love, compassion, and faith, and not to try to offend or hurt you.

Torikeene, the problem with your logic is you equate hearing and lisenting about god with beliving in it. It is not like you, or anyone else trying to convert us, has said anything new or anything we havn't heard before. There is nothing you can tell me to make me believe, I have moved way beyond that in my life. I have all the knowledge needed to make up my mind that none of it is true. I can certainly say there is not one shred of imperical evidence that supports your contention that a god actually does exist.

Why can't you be content with the fact that people do know about your religion, but choose not to engage in fantasy.
