Record music on laptop.

Asked by aidenxx 10 months ago, 1 answer.

I'm thinking about getting an HP laptop so I can record music onto it. It says that it has a microphone built into it but would someone with experience tell me which is better. Recording music from the microphone or buying a microphone for my guitar to...

hook up to the laptop? I mainly just want to record riffs and just anything I make up.

Well, if you've got an electric guitar, your best bet would be finding a way to record the guitar into an MIDI device and then importing that onto your computer and editing it from there. However, if it is an acoustic guitar (or if you don't want to pay for an MIDI device) then buy a USB Vocal Condenser Microphone, and plug that into your USB port and record from there. Just be sure to set the levels and reduce feedback, or it's going to not sound right at all!
