Really confused(don't know what to do now!)

So I basically have this enormous crush on this guy...the problem is that he's in high school and im in middle school(8th grade he's a freshie) so basically we can't see each other that much ): anyways since last year my friends kept on telling me he...

likes me..but I never really learned the truth :p he has always been nervous around me whenever we talk..and so am I... The problem is I really don't show my feelings towards him because im so shy...all we have done is said 'hi how are you' and hugged each other! Im really scared of rejection...but I really like him...but I dont know if he feels the same because sometimes he acts all normal with me and most of the time all shy and he gets mad when I 'flirt' with other guys and he always stares at me...but when he sees me he ducks away :[ today we hugged but I dont know he seemed all normal and he had to hurry up to go home...I really like him but I dont want to make myself any illustions anymore...I really want the truth if he likes me or not but im scared of rejection.. What should I do now?

you should break out of your shell and start getting to know him more. flirt with him or something. like, accidentally bump into him in the hallway. but also play a little hard to get
