get one of those suction cup mirrors for your shower. shave mid shower with soap. get a good lather and do one space at a time. so the soap stays fresh on your skin. the steam helps open ypur poors and sooths your skin. when your all done shaving wash your face with moisturising soap. when your out of the shower, rub in some after shave lotion not the smelly kind just the soothing kind. and use a fusion power razor, it vibrates. it has five small blades and is super smooth.

Yeah, I'd change the razor.
You might want to try shick intuition, you dont need to use shave gel, and it's really gentle on the skin. It's a little bit more expensive then regular razors, but it may be worth it if it works...

do try some other kinds of shaving cream as well
also yes check the razor, probably go for one with less blades that your current one
dont shave with soap! or plain water
conditioner can also be used as shaving cream (but not shampoo)
and do shave in the shower
the water and heat opens up your pores more and forms a better barrier over your legs so its easier and safer to shave

before your shave, make sure to put on shaving cream. and after a shower, put lotion on your legs

I had a problem with razor burn years ago too. I now know that I cannot use Bic razors at all. Under the advice of my dermatologist I also started using hair conditioner to shave with instead of shaving cream. I prefer using Suave conditioner to other brands and I love the Gillette double bladed razors.
