YES, sleep deprivation is {can be} a very bad thing, in the lesser degrees your health will decline- probably be more susceptable to illness, your personality can be affected- more irritable, depressed.
the human body ( and mind) in its normal state is designed to have a certain amount of sleep, when we get out of this normal cycle- things start going a little haywire, our rational thought processes don't work quite right.
in this world we have created, it is harder to find the time to sleep, I know that the 12 hour shift I just escaped from took it's toll on me, I was taking sleep aids to go to sleep- and then slam an energy drink to get up and running again.
that is not how it is supposed to be.
so good luck on your insomnia, I obviously haven't gotten back into normal mode yet myself- being that I am giving advice at 3:00 am my time.
think I am going to go back to sleep.
