Is it a sin to masturbate?

To Catholics? Yeah.
But here's my thinking- even if you are Catholic.
Catholics believe in abstinence until marriage, so isn't satisfying your urges by yourself better than losing your virginity?
I think so.

According to them - yes it is.

Although, masterbation is good for you, healthy, and natural and almost everyone does it - even catholics. There is nothing wrong with it what so ever and no reason to be ashamed that you do it.

The people above me are correct. Catholics (I'm an ex-Catholic) do believe in sexual purity and abstinence, and masturbation is considered and act of impurity. Then, if you factor in that some people look at porn, it's considered a form of fornication in your heart, or adultery if you're married.

Ain't catholic, but porn, masturbation, sex, all of it is not good for you. Some people say it helps with depression, gets rid of cramps(I've actually learned from experience it can cause them), and yadda, yadda, yadda. But it does things to your mind. Once you get into it, you can't go back, just like with sex or porn. It makes the opposite(or some cases, same) sex into an object for ones self-gratification. All 3 cause this, but masturbation and sex are the worst.

That's why most religions preach abstinence.

This means masterbating is a deeply selfish act...Therefore we believe it is a sin.

Well, as certain Muslim sects say, it's better to commit a lesser sin to prevent yourself from comitting a greater sin than comitting the greater sin. I do not condone sinning at all, but I guess some of us end up exposed to certain things too early on, and have to find a way to not do them.

However, I got over it, so so can you.

Does it matter? You're going to do it anyway. Either learn to perpetually ask for forgiveness for being human, or ditch your superstitions and get on with life.

It shouldn't be a matter of what church you go to, it should be a matter of reading the word of God to acquire knowledge on sexual immorality and how God views it. Your body is the temple of God therefore masturbation is a very self gratifying act which is selfish. The more you do it the more you will need to do it. It becomes excessive and uncontrollable because you are feeding the lusts of your flesh. You then go from watching porn, to masturbating, to using evil inventions as the bible calls it such as vibrators, dildos, and god knows what else to self gratify yourself. Then you know what, when you get married you wonder why you are never satisfied. It's because you have become accustomed to satisfying yourself that no one can please you or bring you to your climax. No man can ever go as fast as a vibrator or stay as hard as one. Come on now be for real, masturbating is lust and lust is a sin.

It is sorry if you do your hell bound, life only gets one chance don't waste it
