Purity ring

yeaah Asked by danielleee about 1 year ago, 8 answers.

My dad got me a purity ring a while ago...and I'm just now realizing what a mistake I made accepting it! I don't know what to do because I really don't want to be a virgin till I get married! Is there something I can do to like un-do it?:] lol

Yeah, the ring doesn't mean anything; and its not your DAD's place to get you one. That's a choice for YOU to make... not him...

You just need to tell him that. It's not his choice or a ring's choice. It's yours. So just talk to him about it and hopefully he'll understand, taking it back. Hope it goes well!

Why don't you just take comfort in knowing that you get to make your own choices in life? The ring can mean a nice gesture from dad to you, while still being symbolic to your father of your innocence. He is trying to preserve an image of you in his head.

Nothing but break your father's heart. My friends father gave her a purity ring, and she broke that promise and ended up pregnant, though she swore she was careful. Her father refused to help her out in any way and they don't speak to this day. My family took my friend in, and I ended up watching the baby while she went out. It's not a bad idea to remain a virgin for a while, at least until you are mature enough to deal with the consequences. Just remember, condoms break and birth control sometimes fails. Stay a kid for a while, having to worry every month when your period is a week late, going to spend $15 on a test just to start the next day. False positives on the tests, worrying about STD's, is not something a kid you age should have to deal with. Don't ruin your childhood, because, trust me, you will miss it. Relationships end, boys cheat on you, you have more and more responsibilities, and it only gets worse as you get older. I'm not saying there aren't good things too, but you will wish you could go back and re-do everything. Don't give up your teen years just because you heard sex was fun. It's not worth it at all!

But if you must have sex, be very careful, because you can never be sure where that thing has been, no matter what he tells you. And no matter how cute that baby was in the mall the other day, a screaming baby with an ear infection that just puked all over your new shirt isn't something you need. Good luck Girl.

Well, I'll have to agree with cutiepie88. Staying a kid is the best possible thing. He wants to be able to know you're still his little girl and sex isn't one thing he'd really like to see. Hope everything goes okay with you!
