Rest the muscles, no heavy lifting. you can try heat for the pain or ice, most of the time we would recommend ice 1st but different people receive relief from different types of treatment. Ice will help with any swelling there may be around the area and the muscle itself. Were you prescribed muscle relaxers for spasms or have you been seen by a Dr. If you have seen a physician and were prescribed muscle relaxers---dont be afraid to use them. Take them as directed, nut do not wait for the pain to get really bad. When you feel your pain or spasms starting and initially starting to increase., take the meds then. If you wait until the pain is severe, it will take longer for you to obtain relief as it is harder to get on top of the pain if you wait. Its much easier to contain when treated early. you may also try ibuprofen (Motrin),which will help with pain and swelling also. If the pain gets worse and you can not get any relief then its rime to go see your Dr again.
Probably a good idea if you haven't seen anyone yet, go in for a visit and let them exam u. It may be something totally different or more severe than you may think. I strongly recommend seeing someone if you haven't already ! {•=
