Publisher or editor, which is better?

Asked by funnygal about 1 hour ago, 1 answer.

I’m in high school right now, and I’ve been wondering which career is better. Publishing along with being an editor seems like the two jobs I really have an eye on. So I was just contemplating on what profession would suit someone well, who really enjoys literature.

Hi,

I think it would depend greatly on how much management you want to undertake. Publishers have a lot more final decision on the operations of a publication. They are more hands - off on the actual content, but are huge decision makers.

Editors are more hands-on, actually working with the content. They do get to give input, but final decisions are mostly left to the publisher.
