to go on the internet on a PSP, do you have to have wireless? or can you have dialup?

and when I set the connections up it says 'a connection error has occured. the access point was not detected'

The PSP uses wi-fi, so you have to have wireless internet. The reason it's giving you that access point not detected message is because it can't find your router, either because you don't have one or you have some sort of WEP password on your router.
