Can you take prenatal vitamins even if you are not actually pregnant?

It would depend on the type of prenatal vitamins you're taking, and you should really consult a doctor about it first before taking any.

Some women who aren't pregnant take prenatal vitamins because they claim that it makes their hair, nails, and skin look better.

Prenatal vitamins can be better than regular multivitamins, but there's also high chance of you having too much of some certain vitamins. Sure, the excess can just be drained in your pee, the boost in folic acid is great, but there might also be zinc/iron levels that are too high for a non-pregnant person.

If you have a proper diet filled with the right nutrients, you don't even need to take these. You can take a regular multivitamin, it's cheaper. And if you want, buy Folic Acid and Vitamin E supplements, which are the components that help improve hair, skin and nails. But if you insist on taking prenatal vitamins, always consult your doctor first.
