Prejudice against people who like anime?

Hi there, I'm a fan of anime, and I've been wondering:

Why is it that people make fun of others who like anime? Is it so wrong? What do you think of when you think anime?

I'd like answers that aren't judgmental please, and thank you!

emmm when I think of it I think 'why do people like this, is it not just a cartoon?'

I really don't mean for that to sound judgmental because obviously if so many people like then it must be good and I just dont understand whats so good about it!!!

ok, you just contradicted yourself if you want to know what we think we are going to have to judge, and I think anime is too mainstream, it was really popular in alaska, and now its so overused everyone is bored of it.more power to anyone who likes it tho.

I don't know y. they arent very open to anything different I guess. I have a lot of azn friends who luv anime so I have found a bit of liking 2 it.

I honestly use to like it before it was over used and now anime is being very unappropiate cause their now showing unappropiate parts and now their having anime pornagraphy and it just lost my interest.

Yeah that's true, but I don't like the prevy stuff. I prefer the anime that shows life lessons. The japanese are very creative in their way of entertainment.

hosestly, people who make fun of other people in anyway are usually insecure and jealous of that persons personality, life, family, beliefs etc

I love anime, I think its amazing and you shouldnt let what other people say get to you.
when I think of anime I see gorgeous images, like I love drawings that have a meaning and a theme to them that relate to real life.

I've liked anime since the mid-80s... but, the same with music, I've become jaded by all the similarities, rip-offs, weak storylines, and general decrease in the overall quality of many 'popular mainstream' anime (marketed in the U.S.) today.

I’m an anime fan too and to answer the first question I believe just like picking on the weak or bullying the freshmen it’s just something certain people do to get their 'kicks'. People who make fun of others don’t take the time to understand the people who they're making fun of and sometimes don’t really want to, it’s just another 'thing' on their list to make fun of. I don’t think anime is wrong but it isn’t an angel either just like almost everything, there's a 'good' side and a 'bad' side. If you like something you shouldn’t care what others think about it and although the prejudice might be there that doesn’t mean you have to stop watching it. When I think of anime I think entertainment it’s kind of like a soap opera, its split into episodes, there’s climatic points in the story, interesting characters, nice looking environments, and what I like most, things that are not possible in real life. If I could inject anime into my veins I would^.^
