Is it possible for a female to get her periods the first month of pregnancy? If yes why does that happen?

I have a friend who had her period her whole pregnancy..very lightly. but I am not sure why it still hapens...I dont think it would hurt anything but I would go to the doc and make sure him or her is aware so they can chart it in your history for record just incase...also they can make sure everything is ok...heartbeat etc...

It's normal for some women, but it's rare that it happens. Some women might have some spotting... if the bleeding is accompanied by very heavy cramps or anything like that, then that is a sign that something is wrong.. my sister had her period for the first 5 or 6 months and didn't even know she was pregnant, when she found out though her cervix was still closed. The best thing to do is go to the doctor to make sure everything is progressing as it should
