Was this a week after your period BEGAN, or a week after it ENDED? Is your cycle regular? There are a lot of factors that influence pregnancy, and even a woman with normal fertility has only a 25% chance of pregnancy each cycle. Basically, there is a chance you could be pregnant, though small. If you are concerned, you should take a pregnancy test two weeks after this occured. If it is negative, but you don't get your period in another week, take another test.

When you say a week after your period, I assume you mean a week after it ended, if this is the case, it is possible that you are because, a woman ovulates around the 14th day of her cycle (day 1 being the day her period started). Sperm can live inside a women anywhere from 3 to 7 days in the fallopian tubes, waiting to fertilize an egg.
