Why are these posts getting locked?

A lot of people are posting questions about how to lose weight. Some are trying to lose weight the healthy way, but just because they mention anorexia they get the post locked. How are they meant to get help and let people tell them that anorexia isnt the right way if your just gona go and lock all the threads? I've seen this happen a lot of times and to be honest its just ridiculous. You dont need to lock every thread just because someone is talkin about anorexia. a lot of the time they say they dont know how else to lose weight apart from using anorexia..and they actually want people to tell them how they can lose weight the healthy way because they dont want to be anorexic!!.. but *thread gets locked* OH look.. now people cant give advice. what the f*ck!

We lock anorexia questions because they are against the Funadvice "terms of use" (which they should have read before posting such a question) and we give them advice to seek help! But, if you haven't noticed, there are anorexic and bulimic people on the site that like to encourage that type of lifestyle and you will actually get people telling them how to be anorexic or bulimic and offering to be their "ana", or "mia" buddies. These questions get locked for that reason, because if 10 people give advice not to do it and one person tells them how to, they might just listen to the one that let them know how! Now in other cases, someone will post a question about how to get help for anorexia or bulima and if you haven't noticed, those questions don't get locked! Anyway, it all comes down to the fact that it is against this site's rules and if anyone wants to be a member, they have to follow these rules!

Because once they mention anorexia, the entire thread becomes anorexia talk, you and I both know it. When you sign up for FunAdvice you agree to the terms of use, and if you had read that you would know why questions like that get locked. I have seen tons and tons of questions about losing weight healthy that don't get locked. Don't try and put us down just because you didn't take the time to read the policy. I think you need to read the terms of use before you make yourself look even more like a fool...

I dont look like a fool. your locking threads for no reason. oh so what if they arent all locked? when did I say they are all locked? I said I've seen it happen a lot of times! so now people cant talk about anorexia? it needs to be spoken about to help people. or are you that stupid?

and the threads you found had no mention of anorexia from the topic starter. and I am talkin about ones who do mention it. its not always a bad thing. people are trying 2 get help.

Why would people need to talk about anorexia if they are losing weight? That really doesn't make sence. If people need help with anorexia they can see a counsellor at school or something. How does that make me stupid saying that? We are preventing people from wanting to become anorexic.
People come on here asking ways to become anorexic, lots of people. And thats how the anorexic thing got started. How do anorexic people need help? Its called eat something, plain and simple. Doesn't take a rocket scientist, and if its an emotional problem then they need to see a professional to talk about their problems. We are helping them by encoraging them to see a counsellor, to get help. If they don't want to do that then they are just hurting themselves. There are also health hotlines out there that they can call and talk to people that are actually educated in health field. We are locking threads for a reason, its called the Terms of Use. And if people decide to go against that then their question will be locked. Stop trying to run the show, you don't make the rules here.

Boredgirl123- calm down. We lock these thread for a few reasons. One of the reasons we lock the anorexia ones is because we have some really young people on here, like 13 year olds, and sometimes younger members sneak on. I personally don't want to be responsible for some child getting the ideal that eating disorders are okay, do you? We already have a huge community of pro-ana/mias who are intent on furthering their illness, and recruiting others, giving them tips, etc. This is not a site where we encourage or condone members getting advice on how to harm themselves.

Other reasons we lock questions is when they turn into insult-slinging matches. It often happens with weight loss threads: "Are you stupid?" etc. I'm sorry, but I see more threads entitled "How can I be anorexic" than I see "Help me break free of my eating disorder" threads. If someone wants hep, we usually suggest helplines or centres they can go to in the case they want to help themselves. I know at least one member on here who makes a point of getting info on how to get help to members with eating disorders.

The majority of posts that mention anorexia as a weight loss measure are NOT to stop/prevent anorexia but to further the condition and worsen it. That is why they are locked.

The majority of advisors who lock threads like this will give the pertinent information to direct the user to get help for the condition and then lock it to discourage pro-ana and pro-mia supporters from encouraging the mental illness. (which is self harm and against fun advices TOS)

Its funny how you copy and past ONE line out of the huge paragraph I wrote.
You must enjoy looking like a fool, because I clearly stated that if theres an emotional problem then they need to seek help, which I gave options and sources for. Read the whole thing next time...
