Obama. The main reason:
McCain supported the "escalation" in Iraq that we're now "winning"...what we're winning, I have NO idea. 10 billion a month is far too much to spend - anything is too much to spend - on ending human lives.

Now, if Bush wouldn't have grown the federal government, defecit, etc, AND if I could trust McCain would really return more rights to states, and shrink the federal government (as well as get us out of Iraq) I'd probably vote for him.

Obama. Cause I want taxes to go down plus I don't want a old man running the country what if he have like a stroke or heart attack then what we left with a lady who daughter might go into labor while she's speaking and she have to leave to go be with her.

Obama is the only choice if you want the country to move in a different direction. If you think things have been fine for the past 8 years, and want it to continue that way, then by all means, vote for McSame.

If you are a voter registered in one of the following states, it matters who you vote for: Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, New Mexico, and Virginia.

If you aren't registered in one of those states (like me), your electoral votes are more or less decided, and it doesn't matter who you vote for. There might be a couple more states that count, but unless they swing wildly in the next two months (unlikely) then it's up to those nine.

So the question ought to be, who do you plan to vote for if you're a resident of one of those battleground states?

RG, I think Missouri is out of reach for Obama

You should also add New Hampshire and Nevada as battle ground states too. Maybe even Wisconsin, although I think Obama is pretty solid there.

But if you look at it electorally, and takeout the 10 toss up states, NV, CO, NM, MI, IN, OH, PA, VA, FL, and NH, the electoral count is Obama 217, McCain 189.

Of the swing states, McCain is ahead in OH, VA, NV, IN, and FL for an additional 76. votes. Obama is ahead in CO, MI, PA, NM, and NH for 56 votes.

So if these polls are acurate and the election were held today, Obama would win 273 - 265. In the end, I don't thnk McCain will hold OH, and may not even hold VA. I think Obama will hold on to CO, MI, PA, NM and NH. If that happens, it will be an Obama landslide, 306-232. But we shall see.

These numbers are based on the real clear politics average of polls taken.

I'm not American, but I would vote for Obama if I was.

It's true what Jimhal says. If you vote for McCain then you want the government to stay as it is and I don't think that even the most stupid person living in America would be able to deny the fact that the American government is totally messed up (as most governments are to be fair). Obama wants to change the way that things are -- end the war in Iraq, encourage more languages to be spoken, etc -- he's revolutionary!

And I honestly don't know where some people get off saying that the fact that Obama is black is an issue, or the fact that he may or may not be muslim. I am also in utter disbelief that anyone would not vote for him simply because his middle name is "Hussein" and the fact that "Obama" sounds like "Osama"!

Race, religion and NAMES aren't an indicator of how good a president is.

Yay, Obama

Yeah Nevada could be considered a battleground state, although in this election I think Obama will win New Hampshire and Wisconsin fairly easily.

I think you're right about Ohio and Virginia being the final "toss up" states. I don't know if the election will come down to them or not, but obviously votes in those states will count much more than most others.

One thing that's really surprised me is that North Dakota is now leaning toward Obama. I know he's been campaigning aggressively in that area, but I didn't think he's actually win electoral votes. As small as North Dakota is, it might be a key factor in the election.

If the war in Iraq ends reasonably soon...say December, it won't because of Obama, it'll because of the success of the recent Surge...Obama can no more waltz into office and "end the war" than fly to the moon...

As for "shrinking" the federal government...since when is that a forte of the Democratic Party? You can bet it isn't going to shrink down with Obama.

It'd be a lot easier to vote for someone, if it wasn't always the "lesser of two evils"...

The surge has helped reduce violence, but is not the main reason it has abated. The main reason is the Sunni Awakening, which started before the surge. It is sunni Iraqis who began turning on the foriegn fighters and al qaeda, and that is what has led to most of the reduction in violence. And reduction in violence was not the main goal of the surge. It was supposed to make room for a political reconcilliation. It has failed miserably in that regard.

And the war actually ended 5 years ago with mission accomplished. We have just been an occupying army during their civil war ever since then.
