Please help!! a plane crash!

This was on a test I had and I didnt know the answer. I cant sleep till I fiugre it out. it is bothering me!!! Plane crash survivors are on a deserted island with no vegetation. All they have is a crate of hens and a crate of corn flakes.

provide the survivors with the most energy to stay alive the longest?

a. eat the chickens then the corn flakes
b. feed the hens the corn flakes then eat the chickens
c. feed the hens the corn flakes then eat the eggs
d. eat the corn flakes then the hens

I thought b would be the least energy because energy is lost in the food chain. I thought c would not work because there are no males to fertilize the eggs and there would only be enough eggs until the corn flakes run out. I thought a and b were the best answers but then for some reason I thought chickens and hens were different birds so I picked d. What do you think the answer is?

c would be the answer I believe. hens don't need to be fertilized to lay eggs it's like a girls period in some ways. it happens with or without sex lol. I grew up near farms so the hens provide eggs for a bit then when you run out of corn flakes you eat the hens and eggs have almost everything you need to survive

yeah, when we eat a fried egg or any egg for that matter, its not fertilized. you cant eat fertilized ones because the baby chicken is growing in it.

 
I think the answer is A.

B and C reduce the total available food supply for the people because the hens would be consuming the corn flakes.

D reduces the length of time to be able to consume healthy food because the hens would have starved to death while you were eating the corn flakes.
