Friend got me a skateboard, what do I tell my dad?

I need help!! My friend got me a skateboard and my dad doesnt want me to have one and he just got home and I need to tell him my mom said so what do I say?

skateboarding is a relatively safe sport to start
if he wont let you skate ask him why
find out exactly why he doesnt think its a giod idea
if it because youll get hurt
say youll wear the protective pads and helmet
and do wear them
maybe even ask him to take you down to the skatepark and watch you skate for a bit
and get him involved with it
