Hmm I've never been, but when you go in and they ask you what you're there for, just tell them that you're there for birth control... then they'll have you fill out papers, talk to you about some stuff (what methods of birth control if any you've been using), and then they'll discuss your options with you (the pill, shot, patch etc). Remember, they do this a dozen times a day, they've heard it all before, it's what they're there for... if you're still nervous, maybe you can go with a friend?

Go to the receptionist desk (or you can call ahead of time) and tell them you've never had an exam and you're interested in birth control options.

Most clinics won't give you birth control until you've done a pap smear and had an exam. (they may give you a limited supply until your appointment for an exam.)

On your first time there, be ready with your financial information and insurance information. Many times they will charge you according to your financial status.
You will fill out some forms about your income and then about your medical history and your sexual history. (be truthful, it's to help you and it's confidential)
