hopefully you got it done profesionally
...the swelling should have gone down by now
the redness should go down in a week
it might form a bit of a crust or you could find some puss in there
usually this is normal and just your bodys way of healing the wound
but if it changes colour (eg blue, purple, black) or still hurts after a few weeks youll need to go back to the peircer and get it taken out
you dont really need a new toothbrush for it, unless you want to get one
mouthwash will sting a bit, but it cleans and dissinfects the area
just dont use it too often though
swelling is normal, and any mouth was will only be good. it will only sting (with alcohol) if the wound is still ope, and the inside has a tendency to primarily heal up very quckly...
as for the outside, it's probably just sore, if you have been moving t to clean t, it's certainly going to aggrevate it...but if you notice that it's starting to feel hot / seeping anything or your not feeling well then go to your docs, he may need to give you some anti-biotics...just to be sure.
to be honest, I'd be really unhappy if were you (or your mum) when you had your piercing done, you should have been clearly told how to give your piercing aftercare, and a leaflet giving you advice too. you really sould seek advice from a proffesional piercer, they normally have piercings of their own, so can normally give you both personal and proffesional advice...
please don't panic, as long as you swipe it (gently) wit some salty warm water and move t only twice a day, then that should be adequate, I understand by cleaning more often you may have thought you were caring for it better, but your body is quite resiliant, just keeping it clean, simply, can often be the best thing for it...
don't panic! honestly, but if you're in any doubt, nip down to your piercer and just get them to check it. I have had so many piercings and the piercer I use was always willing to see me and anyone else, who had concerns about their piercing...

Piercing help, toothbrush and mouthwash
Send me Fun Mail
Like I mentioned before, I got my lip pierced three days ago.
I have a couple more questions.
Should I get my mom to pick me up a new tooth brush and some anti-bacterial mouthwash with no alcohol?
I noticed that the inside hole didn't hurt, well, I don't feel it.. But the outside one hurts and its red on the outside... Is that normal?
And, if I do get the mouthwash, will it sting my piercing? Because I heard it will, and I am not a big fan of the stinging sensation.
