Piercing help

I got my lip pierced three days ago, and it didn't hurt for the longest time. I clean in several times a day, but then I found out that I SHOULDN'T do that; I should only clean it twice a day. I am going to start doing that, but I wanted to know something..
Since I just found this out, should I stop cleaning it until the swelling and pain goes away, or should I just start cleaning twice a day right away?
Please help!

no, you should still clean it. swelling and discomfort is very normal. the inside of the lip is very tender and delicate, so some pain is normal.

you have been cleaning it. what I would say is that when you do clean it, do it as cleanly as possible, and the moving of it too often can agrivate the swelling...

it should be cleaned, since whilst it's healing, inside there is 'scabbing' and you need to clean it in order to stop the ring 'binding' to the scab, which will heal, just may make moving painful.

contact your piercer, thats the best way to go if you have ANY queries about your piercing, and reputable business will be more than happy to offer good aftercare...

I find it doesn't hurt on the inside but more on the outside of my lip. I also realized that it is red around the outside hole. Is that normal, too?
And also, do you think it is a good idea to get a new toothbrush and anti-bacterial mouthwash with no alcohol?
