Does getting a piercing after surgery increase infection risk?

Asked by alexis0nfire about 1 year ago, 1 answer.

Is it ok to get a peircing after you just had a surgery? I heard that it highers your risk of infection, but im not sure if it is true or not.
Im not sure if this matters but I just recently had eye surgery yesterday and I want to get my belly button pierced. How long should I wait, if I have to wait at all?

Hi,

Well I haven't actually heard that before, but I would still wait at least a week. Your body is focusing it's energy on recovering from your surgery, adding another wound for it to heal just seems like it will shock your system even more. I'd wait a week or so..
