Why do people stereotype by race?

What is it with people and racial stereotyping? I have read peoples comments in the past about Asian men being unattractive as a whole. So in some peoples opinion, just because of the dudes slanted eyes and jet black hair, they are unattractive?

Ok, I'm a exact blend of 1/2 Caucasian 1/2 Asian...some people cannot tell that I'm Asian, and some cannot tell that I'm White. How does this effect my appearance to those who have previously stated their complete lack of interest in Asian men?

I'm not seeking approval from anyone to boost my self confidence but how do I appear to you (Out of curiosity)? Do I look White? Asian? Ugly? Handsome? Enlighten me. Thanks for reading.

Honey, you are adorable, very handsome. Do not care about what others think. Just be yourself and be happy with who you are as a person. Be proud of your heritage. Believe in you and your abilities and that's what counts. Good Luck

I assume you want the opinion of white people?

I'm 100% Asian, and I live in an area where Asians are the majority. This must be why I don't think Asian guys are unattractive as a whole - it just depends on each individual. Asians are generally fascinated by someone who's half-white and half-Asian. We spend some time staring at you thinking you're one of us... though there's something quite different about you.

You do look half-Asian, but it isn't as obvious what your other half is. I would have guessed Hispanic, actually.

Wow. You are like the...male version of me. My father is half-Irish, half-German. My mom is a hundred percent Korean. Lots of people think I'm pretty (I guess), or so I've heard. I can't really tell. I guess I don't really care. But tell all those sterotyping people to shut UP!!! If they're stupid enough to stereotype, you shouldn't care what they think. I think it's funny that I'm so anti-stereotype yet it's possible that I could be related to Hitler! Ha. That would be hilarious...yet enough to turn me emo.

I'm not personally dealing with racism of any sort first hand. I simply got curious of other peoples thoughts on this subject. I have learned a long time ago how to deal with those who have tenancies to direct their bigotry towards me. I've read a lot of forums and websites that still have so many forward racial comments from people. Also, I am fully comfortable with myself and haven't the ounce of insecurity to hold me back from anything life throws. And I should state again, I'm not seeking replies in confidence boosting nor to make myself feel better of my looks. Just, Does being part Asian throw a guy like me into that class where those who think Asian men are ugly? Thanks again guys.

Hmm you know I took a course in organizational behaviour and there was this interesting topic about steryotyping. It stated that people tend to place others into categories because it makes things easier for their mind.It takes a lot of time and energy to consider one person as an individual ,as a unique being, that is why we start to label them.
For your second question which is quite a coincidence because I came upon an article about mixed race in newsweek a few weeks ago.Actually, people who are of mixed ethnicity are considered better,in biological terms of genes I mean. They have a mixture of certain features that are found in each ethnicity that they originate from.It is like a mutation process whereby you bring out the best from both worlds.
The article also presented a small research ; that people from two different races when given a picture of someone that is a mixture of both their race would consider them more attractive then those from their own respective races. Why?
Because you are the best of both worlds (;-P)
