How important is physical attractiveness in a relationship?

How important is physical attractiveness in the opposite sex when it comes to a relationship? I know character and personality are obviously important in choosing a partner but what happens if you've got that but you just don't find the person physically attractive?

And why do some women who are looking for partners not bother about how they actually look? I know there are some guys out there who don't place a high emphasis on physical attractiveness when it comes must haves in a partner.

Here is how I see it:

Physical attractiveness is important to me... but not AS important as the personality... I want a guy who looks good but has all the personality triats...

I think that if you meet someone who has all the right personality traits and a great character... you begin to fall in love with the physical traits... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... and I believe that everyone is capable of being loved for their physical and personality traits.. Its just finding someone who sees all of that.. or loves every aspect of that..

the problem is.. some people are just too shallow to look past the physical

best way to know if you like the person ask em out befor you see them if you talk and stuf but never see eachother and you like her them go for it
