Menstruation - having periods - is part of the female reproductive cycle that starts when girls become sexually mature at the time of puberty. (anywhere around the ages of 10-16..it depends on the person. around 12 is average.)

During a menstrual period, a woman bleeds from her uterus (womb) via the vagina. This lasts anything from three to seven days. It has to do with an egg being released... meaning the woman is not pregnant. when I woman becomes pregnant, her periods usually stop.

its completley natural, and part of becoming a woman. its not very pleasent... but you'll learn to deal with it in time.

cramps, bloating, fatigue, and a temper are all signs of it... but its nothing a tylonol or something cant fix... minus the temper part. lol

I never used to know for ages either. it comes at any age depending on your body, age doesnt matter. its a time in a month where a girl has blood coming out of the vagina. it often causes stress and pain, but usually lasts about 3-8 days. you need pads or tampons for this or the blood will go EVERYWHERE. im not 100% sure but I think it means where your ready for sex, but maybe not the age part. you will probably have a school lesson sometime teaching you about it.
