Answer #6

If you bathe regularly (daily) or twice a day. It’s not the vagina that smells bad, it’s the discharge. The last remnants of blood that are the dark red to brown color, has a terrible odor no matter how much I bath. I just need to dump the pad (the source of the odor) and put in a fresh one. The worst is when you think it’s over and run out of liners, and it gets on your underwear, if it smells you have no way of changing and it’s embarrassing.

Answer #7

It is very normal to smell down there if you DON’T wash. It is not normal, however, if after bathing, you still have a very bad stench. If you are still young and have only had your period for a year or two, then I would suggest not using a douche. Warm water and creamy bathing soap will do the trick perfectly fine. Just massage the soap very gently, and pat with a towel to dry.

To answer other questions, it is also very normal for period blood to be brown. It is usually at the end of your period, but can also be seen for the first day. This brown blood just means that the blood is old and dried, and has an AWFUL smell. All you can do is wash and wait; it should disappear within one or two days after your period ends.

When you are actually on your period, tampons definitely help. Sitting in a pad full of blood, obviously, does not do anything good. If you don’t or can’t use tampons yet, then, depending on how heavy your flow is, you should change your pad frequently.

Answer #8

Clean out your vagina for once?

Answer #9

well when im on my period I shower every morning to get rid of blood around the area, that should make it better a little. try odour pads though they dont always keep in the smell for me. also change your pads every so often. x

Answer #10

Ask a close friend or your mum if it does really smell, cause I no im really self consus and I thought I really smelt bad but when I asked my boyfriend she said that she couldnt smell any thing

Answer #11

Well Well Well maybe you should… bathe maybe twice a day because you just have a strong odor. That helps a lot. And try changing your pad often so that the smell doesnt stay trapped down there, it does get hot and sweaty with a big pad. And try wearing a tampon with a pantiliner that way it doesnt just linger around.

Answer #16

if you’re towards the end of your period it can tend to smell, but the “fishy” you think you’re getting is usually the blood BUT blood from a cut or wound will smell metallic and your period “blood” is not just blood, it’s also all the proteins and cells that make up the lining your uterus is shedding. depending on how long the “blood” from your period takes to come out of you (hence on really light days) it does oxidize and the metallic smell of normal can sometime take on a fishy tone. Most people don’t understand that when you say you’re smelling a fishy smell it’s actually an ammonia “smell “(which is why real fish smell when bad) can also be caused by regular body odors combined with your period and trapped in your gential area that you’re smelling. try wearing all cotton underwear, your skin has to breathe even “down there”. try hanging out in your robe in your room without panties after a shower at night for an hour or so to let your area “air out”. this is something I follow on a regular basis. also, you know what…sometimes you just smell because your vagina is rebalancing your bacterial PH balance, sometimes when you’re ovulating your discharge can smell a touch and discharge can darken. BUT unless your reallly itchy, have really odd colored discharge and/or have had unprotected sex, ride it out a few days. our bodies fix things by themselves more than you think. AND TO ALL LADIES PLEASE DO NOT DOUCHE!!! IT RUINS ALL OF YOUR NATURAL FIGHTING BACTERIA IN YOUR VAG! you wouldn’t believe the stories I’ve heard from nurse friends in ER’s !

Answer #17

Yea, I would definitely say tampons help. But always wear a pad overnight, because if you leave a tampon in too long you can get really sick. Just take a shower in the morning and clean it really gently and throughly! I never really notice a bad smell when I do this.

Answer #18

don’t use scented pads..they can cause infections! ickk! and who wants that?

I completely understand though…my period smells kinda fishy..which I have researched a little..and is NOT normal..it should smell like blood from a wound does…no different…if you are like me and it’s fishy…see a doctor…you can get a perscription, etc…

umm…shower twice a day..and if you use tampons…don’t leave them in overnight…

don’t try spraying perfume down there…even over your pants..I got a vaginal infection my first month doing that. let’s just say the pain is horrendous!!

as far as color - if you’re concerned about that…

it should be anywhere from the color of a bright red apple, to a cherry, to a darker colored apple (maroonish color - close to brown but is still red..) in the beginning of your period each month…and in the end…like first and last day, it is normal to have DARK brown. I do…talk to your doctor if it is gray, yellow, orange, blueish…etc…my mom is a doctor and she has patients come in quite frequently for vaginal infections…the gray, orange, and yellow are common problems.. most are easy fixes…blueish is BY FAR…NOT NORMAL…so please…save yourself and don’t be embarrassed to go see a physician because if you wait too long, some girls end up dying from period related problems..

I hope this helped…with EVERYTHING!

good luck ;)

Answer #19

your spose to have some kind of smell to it when your on your rag…all that blood up in there sittin there for a month…why wouldn’t there be a smell??? you no?..just get scented tampons if its that bad…but its normal..

Answer #20

A smell is normal. My advice is not perfume because fragrances can irritate and cause more smelly bacteria.

Soak in the tub everyday with baking soda, not bubble bath. You would be amazed how much perfumy stuff can make something worse. Also you can use unscented wipes. I hope this advice helps you. from woman to woman…good luck!

Answer #21

I had a bath and used body lotion and shower gel and got out and put on fragenace power and dried. that helped me
