Performance enhancing drugs?

on fireee Asked by bsrc about 1 year ago, 3 answers.

There is no way to stop people from using performance enhancing drugs. As such, the International Olympic Committee should let athletes use as many drugs as they want.
My question is, do you agree with this statement?
If so, or if not, why?

For the most part athletes want drug testing and clean sports.

Athletes who use performance enhancing drugs usually only do so because they believe that other competitors do and they must do so in order to be competitive. This becomes a viscous circle.

Of course there is danger involved with doping. A few years ago there was no test for EPO so it became common among bike racers. Eventually cyclists were taking so much EPO that they were dropping dead because their blood became too viscous to pump. Keeping sports clean protects athletes from the additional dangers performance enhancing drugs add.

Interesting question. Letting athletes use drugs would improve the current results and amaze us, blowing current records out the window, that's for sure.

The thing is though, that drug free competitions spawn at least somewhat honest results. It doesn't come down to who has the best drugs and can take the most shots and pills without getting renal failure. On the other hand, you could say that it's just pushing the athletes, like through training and that this evolution in the sportsworld is just another step in improving on ourselves.

In the end, I'd have to say I don't agree because the arguments I have laid out against it are more important to me, personally.

no, I dont know who said it but no. I dont agree with it at all
there are people who use them
but there are also people who dont
the people who use them are cheating, its unfair if they win,
and most of them know that
some poeple though will stop at nothing to be the best
including artificially inhancing there bodies
what there doing is wrong, its not sending out any good messages for people watching, its not right
if you want to play a game, you play fair
hard work, determination, persistance, practice, ect and what makes an athlete
and thats what makes them great
performance inhancing drugs make them what they arnt
and the game isnt fair if there inhacing there bodies, or cheating
theres no point to the game at all if there being used
