Peeing 50 times before falling asleep

For the past week or so, I’ve been having to pee a lot at night. It’s only when I’m laying down trying to fall asleep though. Like if I sit on the computer all night, I don’t have to pee, but when I lay down, I feel like I have to pee really bad. Sometimes I’ll refuse to go cause I’ll be sick of getting up but I’ll feel like it’s trapped in my body and I’ll just go to the bathroom. Very little urine comes out every time I pee, but still some comes out. This doesnt happen during the day. Whats wrong with me?

Best to consult your Doctor…Take care !!

Answer #2

You should see a doctor to make sure there’s no medical reason behind it.

If s/he clears you then it sounds like it could be anxiety… Are you afraid you’re going to wet the bed or something?

It takes practice but you can stop. You just need to talk yourself through it… Go to the bathroom once and then if you feel the need to go again you need to remind yourself you just went and not go. Remind yourself of course there is something going to come out, you’re constantly producing waste products, however, your bladder is big enough to hold it for the night. I know it seems quicker to just go and get it over with but that’s enabling the behavior to continue… Just like someone with OCD, it’s just easier for them to wash their hands 50 times because then they can stop being anxious and get on with whatever they are doing, but until they force themselves to deal with the anxiety they wont be able to stop their behavior…

Don’t worry if it takes some time to get it down. Even if you only get up 3 times instead of 4 then you’re making progress…

I think this is just anxiety.. I dew this every nite too, I take unisom, I t makes me juss crash…I use to juss take pain killers until I found out about the unisom…but its anxiety, your concentrating too much on urintaing or falling asleep, either or your thinking too much before you fall asleep

This is what has been happening to me for over a year now. It has never happened before in the past but for a year I have been taking a new medication called seroquel along side with other psychiatric meds. The seroquel I heard can cause diabetes and that is what the frequent urination may be for me in my case. Haven’t gotten any lab testing done though. But my gut feeling tells me that it is the high anxiety I feel before going to bed. I have had hallucinations in the past and honestly I am afraid of the dark after all the things I’ve seen!! That is why I am so nervous when I lay down. I pee every five minutes so it’s not fun for me. Last night I got to bed at 3AM because my sister had a friend over and they were talking in the room and I could hear them which made me anxious and so I sat on the toilet and just kept peeing every few minutes. It’s only in the beginning of bedtime and usually I am able to sleep once I am dreaming. I’m glad I am the only one who is NOT experiencing this!!!

I’m so glad that I read these posts, thanks to you all. I’ve been suffering for the past two weeks with frequent urination just when I’m trying to fall asleep. I too deal with anxiety and I’m now sure that’s what is causing my frequent urination at night. I wish you all the best at getting over this issue.
