1 Thessalonians 4 4:13
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
Romans 8 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Isaiah 9: 6,7 prophecy of the coming messiah
'For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder and his name will be called 'Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.' Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end...'
Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
Mt. 10:34-39
'Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have come not to bring peace, but the sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother... He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me, and he who does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. He who finds his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake will find it.
John 14:26ff
'But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let your hearts not be troubled, neither let them be afraid.'
Galatians 5:22-24
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self control; against which there is no law. And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Ephesians 2:14-18
“For he is our peace who has made us both one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby bringing hostility to an end. And he came and preached peace to those who were far off and peace to those who were near, for through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.
Revelation 20:4
'Then I saw thrones, and seated on them was those on whom judgment was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshipped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.'
Rev. 21:3,4
'and I heard a great voice from the throne saying, 'Behold the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.''
God gives peace to his people, even in the midst of dire situations, but, true peace won't come until Jesus comes back to set up his Kingdom, during the millennial
reign.
This, from above, is a horrible thing to quote to a child.
Mt.
It sounds more like something from the Quran. At your age don’t let some religious zealot tell you not to love your parents above all.
I think, Stopandsmelltheroses, that you will be much happier with, “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Keep asking about peace. We need more kids like you.
In the quotes above, I tried to include everything that I could think of that included the word as I looked at my bible. The one that I forgot and couldn’t find is from Isaiah 11 (the wolf shall lie down with the sheep etc.).
I included the Jesus’ quote from Matthew about bringing the sword because it surprises me. That’s one of those passages that no one expects, but the fact is he said it. It shines light onto the paradox of what Jesus taught on earth. I know that you are still young, but it’s always good to explore a paradox when you find one.
It’s interesting that the next poster pointed out the passage “love thy neighbor as thyself” as the one that will make you happy. Jesus used that phrase as the “second commandment” when the Pharisees asked him what the greatest commandment is. The second commandment can only be understood in the context of the first commandment: you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. That is the commandment that shows us how to love ourselves; we need to love ourselves in a way that will get us to heaven. Based on that, we need to love other people like we want them to go to heaven. Finally, the first passage that I quoted (whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me), that passage demonstrates the principal that our desire to get our neighbor (father, mother, son, daughter, etc.) into heaven should outweigh our own desire for earthly companionship. The 2 concepts are not opposed; they shed light on each other. Ultimately, Christ will bring peace; he is the prince of peace that Isaiah talked about, but he will do it in God’s time, not our time. That will be the just and lasting peace. (see also John chapter 3)
And please, as you go through your life, do stop & smell the roses.
I found these for my Sunday School class last week:

Here on Mount Zion the LORD Almighty will prepare a banquet for all the nations of the world – a banquet of the richest food and the finest wine. Here he will suddenly remove the cloud of sorrow that has been hanging over the nations.
Isaiah 25: 6-7
The first ones seem to be what's going on now, and the last two seem to be God's promises for the future. Both sets are good news for peace!
For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us. Ephesians 2: 14
And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God's will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement, and harmony between individuals, with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts]. First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way. 1 Timothy 2: 1-2
Blessed (enjoying enviable happiness, spiritually prosperous--with life-joy and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they shall be called the sons of God! Matthew 5: 9
If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12: 18
So let us then definitely aim for and eagerly pursue what makes for harmony and for mutual upbuilding (edification and development) of one another. Romans 14: 19
Let him turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right. Let him search for peace (harmony; undisturbedness from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts) and seek it eagerly. [Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them!] 1 Peter 3: 11
And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

Depart from evil and do good; seek, inquire for, and crave peace and pursue (go after) it! Psalm 34: 14
And the effect of righteousness will be peace [internal and external], and the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever. Isaiah 32: 17
My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting-places. Isaiah 32: 18

And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]. Colossians 3: 15
Therefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Romans 5: 1
Then on that same first day of the week, when it was evening, though the disciples were behind closed doors for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace to you! John 20: 19
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] John 16: 33
May grace (God's favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1: 2
