Parents witholding vital documents
Ok so I am 17 and live in Texas. According to Texas law you can move out of your parents house at 17 years old. Basically, you can legally run away. Well I have had lots and lots of problems at the house and I have wanted to work it out with my parents...
but they don't want to. They didn't want to try counseling or anything. So I decided to move out. Now, even though I can move out my parents are still my legal guardians until I am 18. I really need to get a job but my parents refuse to give me my birth certificate and my social security card. They say that they can legally do this since they are still my legal guardians. Is this true? Is there anyway I can get my BC and SS card? Please keep in mind that Texas law may be different from where you live... Thank you very much!
