ummm I was the same at 12 and then I joined cheerleading and I lost all the weight...have her reduce her diet to like 1300 calories a day, no foods high in salt and carbs. run like she is doing, have her drink water, crystal light and lowfat or skim milk not too much water though that can be dangerous and might make her put on weight due to excess water. she just needs to watch what she eats...its not all about exercise..have her do more than running...even join a sport if she can.

if she runs more, several miles several times a week, she'll lose weight, as long as she doesn't start eating more after the exercise.

dude, she needs to watch her diet too. I can have a bit of pudge on me belly even when I'm literally doing 3 or 4 hours of exercise a day. It's cause at the moment I'm eating sugary and fatty stuffs. She needs to be disciplined and strict with any diet that she undertakes, understanding that there are no quick fixes. If she just change for a few months she will put it all back on. What is required is a fundamental lifestyle change. vowing to keep active and to eat reasonably (and you can have a few treats too) for the rest of her life!
