Chapter one gives the over all story ( Gen 1:1 - 2:4 ) in Chapter 2 it takes a step back to tell in more detail about the Creation of Man ( Adam) and woman. it the way it is written it make the story flow better and basically finishes one story befor starting another.
Otherwise Gen 1:11 and gen 2:5 are in conflict. . . .

There may be some answers that we won't have until we see the Lord, face to face, and can ask him then...

some say there were other people living on the earth at the time... not just the ones mentioned in the bible...

At the beginning of the human race, it was not considered a sin to marry a sibling. Abraham married his half-sister (Genesis 20:12). Genesis 5:4 informs us that Adam had both sons and daughters. So Cain and Abel obviously married their own sisters.

shepherd is right - Adam and Eve had other children - later in Leviticus, God forbade marrying cousins...hope this helps.

Well Cain married a sister or a neace. . . We have no proof Abel was ever able to marry. . . . But Cain's children are mentioned.

'At the beginning of the human race, it was not considered a sin to marry a sibling. Abraham married his half-sister (Genesis 20:12). Genesis 5:4 informs us that Adam had both sons and daughters. So Cain and Abel obviously married their own sisters.'..
why obviously? and do you know the names of these 'wives' (or this 'wife', if only Cain married)
Another question, Marriage wasn't invented then, was it? There were certainly no legal records, no pens or paper, and writing in stone was yet to be thought of...

If the Biblical record is correct, Adam and Eve were the first human pair on earth. If that can be proven untrue, then our discussion about their sons, Cain and Abel, is pointless.

It is correct that we do not know if Abel was killed before he ever got married. However, because of the original question, this discussion has assumed that possibility.

When I stated, 'Cain and Abel obviously married their own sisters,' the question was asked, 'Why 'obviously'?' Simply because their sisters would have been the only available women around. Cain and Abel certainly would not have mated with some kind of an ape.

Their father, Adam, had already searched the entire animal kingdom, and never found a suitable mate (Genesis 2:19-20). That was the reason God then created Eve (Genesis 2:18). Now this, indeed, was a unique wedding. God Himself gave away the bride! (Genesis 2:22).

So marriage was God's idea. This is made quite clear in Genesis 2:24 -- 'Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.'

sheperd believes what he wants to. he can be wrong, as can everybody else.
but PLS quit reciting the bible!! it's pointless. stop thinkin for god!!!
and maybe caine and abel did mate with monkeys or other species.. who knows what they were thinkin back then... lol. hahaha
maybe they mate with their own mother or if they had sistes, with them. who knows.. that's why we have free will.. your free to choose what you believe is true.. untill we're 100% sure of what happened back then, no one can tell you it's absolutely true or false.

why dont we all just calm down, people have different belifes, some only follow half of christianity, some follow all, like shepard, some have othere religions, and some dont beleive in any religion (athiests). im a theist, but im kemetisan wiccan (neo - pagan), but I let people believe what they want, and dont pressure my belifes on others, why cant you do the same, live and let live. ok?

Adam and Eve was not the first humans on earth. It says in Genesis 1:27 that God, the El-yon, created man, not Adam but humankind. It says that man multiplied, it does not say that it reproduced in verse 28. So a theses is that they reproduced sort of like cells reproduce now, by mitosis. But if they reproduced in a type of clone, then they were not really related like you would be if you reproduced sexually.

Sure it was. God married Adam and Eve right there in the Garden of Eden. Wouldn't it be something to be married by Jesus Christ Himself??? WOW! Pretty cool!!
