Who should order their food first on a date?

On a date in an average restaurant, who should order their food first, the man or the woman?

Generally, I've found I end up ordering first (but I'm married) and then regretting what I ordered because my wife seems to pick out the best dishes.

I think the polite route is to invite them to order first, and if they haven't made up their minds about what to order, asking the waiter / waitress to come back when she's ready.

Women order first. If the waiter motions to the man to order before a lady, it is the man’s responsibility to look down humbly. It is the lady’s responsibility to order first, no matter what, unless she’s formed an agreement with her partners to order last because she hasn’t made up her mind. Also, if the lady disagrees with this rule, she may order whenever she wants; the man was only trying to be courteous.

I usually make my husband order first because I can never make up my mind and usually end up just saying 'Yeah, I'll have what he's getting.'

The man, and if really proper, he would order for the lady first.
