You are using the wrong shade. When you try a new foundation make sure it is on clean skin with NO makeup. Apply a little to the jaw line and then look at it in natural light (outside preferaby) or you can get a couple of mirrors and get one to catch the light and reflect it on to your face and look at the area in the mirror that you applied the foundation. If it matches perfectly than you have the right shade. If it is even a little darker or lighter than it's not the right shade. I recommend using your fingers to apply the foundation. The heat from your hands helps when applying it, plus you don't pile it on like you can when using a sponge.
Good luck.
I just had the same problem so I went to the mall to the makeup counters and got one of the workers to take off the makeup on my cheek/jaw and she tried different shades of foundation untill we found one that worked. I know you may not want to go somewhere to figure it out but I promise it will work. right now im using a foundation/moisturizer by clinique and it works great! hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else
go and buy a lighter shade... make sure it is spread out evenly... and get a powdered foundation too.. make sure its not too orange or too dark.. but putting a powder over a liquid lightens the face and makes the face look softer.. it takes out any shine and it looks great...the only thing you hae to remember is that do not keep putting the powder on your nose throughout the day.. it clogs pores really bad and can result in acne or blackheads. umm...just bring a blush brush with you, and with nothing on it rub it on the shiny sopt... it will get rid of the shine.. believe me.. I took two years of cosmetology, and worked at one of the most famous salons in New York...
