Optic nerve

Asked by superman27e 4 months ago, 1 answer.

How strong is the optic nerve? And also doesnt the optic nerve play a big role in keeping the eye in the socket? Also I was watching a movie the other night and this guy just reached in and took this guy he was fighting eye out. How possible is this? Some body told me its really hard to do because of the optic nerve and other surrounding muscles holding the eye in.

Thanks

Hi,

From a medical book excerpt:

It carries with it a strong, loose sheath of dura mater, and also more delicate investments.

So I'm guessing it's really strong. It does help keep the eye in the socket too, I'm assuming the movie was just being a movie
