I say you should consider shaving your head. Really--I'm not joking. Your hair got very damaged.
Or you could use a lot of conditioner. You should also try the CG method...using only conditioner; it really does clean hair well. I have curly hair, and really got my hair curlier (which is what I want). Maybe your curl will come out again.
Shampoos are very damaging to curls...I've found that there rarely is such thing as a hydrating or moisturizing shampoo. Almost all of them have sodium laureth sulfate, which is what hurts curls. Sure, it works up a lather, but it strips your hair of moisture. It's the same thing use in laundry detergent...and you know what laundry detergent does to clothes. And hair is even more delicate than clothing!
it's in dishsoap...it's the thing that cuts through grease. Do you honestly want that in your hair?
So use a cheap conditioner (Suave or V05) as you would shampoo...gently massage your scalp under running water with 2-3 puddles of conditioner. You need a light conditioner for this. MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAVE SILICONES--anything that ends in -cone or -xane.
Then get a thicker conditioner, one that doesn't contain silicones (I like Generic Value Products Conditioning Balm...it's availalable at Sally Beauty Supply.). http://www.sallybeauty.com/GVP-Conditioning-Balm/SBS-264074,default,pd.html
Use styling products that don't have any silicones, and use a leave-in conditioner every day. Don't brush your hair...gently comb it in the shower while it's drenched in detangler or co-wash (conditioner wash--the light conditioner that you'll use to wash your hair, remember?). Brushing will cause even further breakage. And use an old t-shirt or microfiber towel to dry your hair gently.
Good luck!
