Offering

Asked by onyemachukwu 3 months ago, 12 answers.

They make us to believe in church that the more offering you give to God, the more God blesses you. How is this possible because God don't collect those gifts himself.

*** They make us to believe in church that the more offering you give to God,

Consider that your church benefits from a larger collection plate, and thus has direct incentive to tell you these things.

Would they be just as happy if you gave nothing to them, but donated it all instead to causes that directly attack world hunger, disease and other forms of misery?

An offering is just what it is called. Offering. It's what you can afford to give each week if any. God does not punish us if we don't have money for the collection plate. Some religions call it tithes. I think you are suppose to give 10 percent of your income to the church, there is scripture in the Bible about this, but unfortunately, I do not know much about how it goes.
You brought up an interesting question though. I would like to bring this up in Sunday School one Sunday. Thank You

k Matthew 23:23 says How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You pretenders! You give got a tenth of your spices, like mint, dill, and cummin. But you have not practiced the more important things of the law, like fairness, mercy and fatihfullness...' You are supposed to give tenth of what you make to the church...people do this because it is said so in the bible. You are supposed to give back for all he does..you give back to his church...he is getting it personnally because the church is his and the people are his. People say there is a record of giving in heaven. That god will reward you when you give. My pastor says when you do not give its liek stealing from god because he gives so much to us. Also giving is the only gift you can givbe before youlearn to exercise it as a spiritual gift...does this help?

Giving is a spiritual law just like gravity. Giving can be done in a lot of ways. The offering is a collective for many purposes. Within my church it helps keep the place operating. It pays the bills. Sometimes it goes for future renovations. It may go to missionaries. You are asked to give 10% of your gross income not net. This doesn't mean that just because you've given something you're going to all the sudden receive even more. Many people give for selfish reasons and wonder why they're not receiving any blessings. Having a pure attitude about it is the key.

The whole point of giving is to give to the church...because without your church where are you gonna give praise...outside...nobody likes the heat or the cold...AC...and and im pretty sure any preacher or paster or preist cant pay for the church expenses all himself...maybe they can but most cant...plus God wants us to join a congregation... hope this help ya...

'Offerings are for the church...to pay utility bills, paint the building, buy hymnals, etc.
Many churches have tremendous overhead and the money rarely reaches those in need, or maybe they have a small pastor discretionary fund...
if you think the 'offering' is for G-d...nope.

A pastor was asked how much of the offering went to G-d..he replied, I throw the offering money into the air what G-d keeps is his...the rest goes to the church...

At home, on a personal level with your God. You do not need a church to praise a God(s).

Why not see what scripture says on the subject? Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

2 Cor 9:6-11
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
9 As it is written: “He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Gal 6:7-9
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

And BTW , it's impossible to out-give GOD

PS .. As you freely give kindness, your talents, prayers, well wishes, etc., you’ll receive more blessings back in return.

It will also make you more sensitive to spiritual things. In the process you’ll draw nearer to God with a greater clarity to receive His guidance. However, your ability to do this increases during alone times with God.
