My question is are there any plans to build nuclear power plants in Australia?

Over time, many concerns have risen from the possibility, but nearly every single one has a logical and positive answer to it, and yet nothing seems to be happening.

What is it about the threat global warming has provided us with that makes people seem to ignore it?

Very few people know what really killed nuclear power in the US. It is true that 3 mile island and Chernobyl did nothing to help the cause of nuclear energy. What really killed nuclear power here is expense.

When the first nuclear power plants were being built we were promised electricity too cheap to meter. In reality nuclear power is among the most expensive sources of energy available even before factoring in waste displosal costs.

Although there have been some advances in nuclear power such as safer and simpler designs the truth remains that it is cheaper to generate electricity from fossil fuel.

Not that I can find.

And there aren't any there already ,either:

All uranium oxide concentrate (uranium that has been mined and milled) is exported to other countries. For example, it may be shipped to Germany for conversion, then to the UK for enrichment, then back to Germany for fuel fabrication. There is a nuclear reactor used for research at Lucas Heights, near Sydney.

I attend graduate school with a guy from Australia, he said they are really environmentally conscious there...Could have something to do with it.
