Does anyone believe in Nostradamus and the world ending in 2012? If so, will living in a space station protect us from the catastrophe that will befall Earth? The Decemeber 21, 2012 date has been predicted by the Mayans, Merlin, The I-Ching, Nostradamus, and even confirmed by Nasa as the date when the Sun wil be aligned with the center of the galaxy causing catastrophic effects on Earth. What do you think will happen and will living in space protect us? Please give suggestions. Thank You.

Hmm I belive the world will end in 2014 due to the metior (spell check) that is the size of the moon (which they had on tv a few years ago)...even if we try to blow it up it will break up into littler peices and then a tsunami will happen just like the movie the day after tommorow and yer...but I have read some of nostradamuses works but I wouldnt concern yourself in it...the world could end any day without us even noticing...

I'm sorry, but this is a false statement. Let's start with the Mayans. They did not predict their own downfall, or the end of the world, or anything. The fact that 12 December 2012 on the Gregorian calendar is the last day listed in the Mayan Long Count means nothing. The Mayan concept of time was cyclical, not linear. If you've ever looked at their calendar, it's just a giant circle, that eventually runs out of room on 12 December 2012. It's likely that had their civilization continued, they would have added to it.

Nostradamus...not a single one of his quatrains predicts 12-12-12 as the end of the world. In fact, not a single one of his quatrains predicts anything specific. It's all vague language that was intended as a political critique of the power figures of his day, such as the Pope, the king of France, and even the rise of the Ottoman Empire.

The I-Ching is an oracle, nothing more, and it also does not give exact predictions. The idea that 2012 is an I-Ching termination point is just somebody's interpretation, and most likely a false one.

NASA is predicting a solar maximum and pole reversal in 2012, but guess what? This happens every 11 years. It's true that our modern dependence on satellite technology means that we're more susceptible to change from this solar cycle, but it won't spell the end of the world as we know it.

As for Merlin, I don't remember him specifically giving that prophecy the last time I watched Disney's "The Sword in the Stone" but maybe I missed it.

The end of the world in 2012 is a myth, cooked up by people who are getting their calendars, prophecies, and cultures mixed up. On 1 Jan 2013, they'll find out how wrong they were.
